Conclusion (For detailed astrological analysis read the analysis section):

  • There can be assassination of top leaders of Afghanistan before April 2022.
  • By the end July, 2023 it will be end of current establishment of Afghan Government.
  • The period up to July 2024 will be very scary for Afghanistan. It will be a “Third Civil War” in Afghanistan (similar to 1992-1996 and 1996 to 2001).
  • During the above period before July 2024, there will be tension in the bordering countries around Afghanistan.
  • During this time, Pakistan will also face internal conflict before August 2022 as the transit Rahu will come to Aries and afflict the Pakistan’s Asc degree of 24.26 degrees in Aries. Similarly, transit Ketu will be in the 7th house in Libra. I will be writing a detailed article on Pakistan soon. In all probability Pakistan will also be on target by the USA for giving tacit support to Taliban.

Analysis:

There are many charts those are available for Afghanistan. The Book of World Horoscopes, by Nicholas Campion gives date of July 17, 1973 at midnight at Kabul. The history behind this date is that, Afghanistan has had many changes of regime since the 1970s: a hard line communist government (April 30, 1978), a more moderate communist Soviet puppet regime, a post-communist secular government, an Islamic mujihadeen government (the communists and Islamicists reached an agreement in April 1988, Soviet troops withdrew in February 1989, a military government was installed on April 16, 1992 and Islamic forces occupied Kabul on April 16, 1992), the Taliban, and since 2001-02, the post Taliban regime. However, this entire process was triggered by the coup d’etat of July 17, 1973. The 1973 coup was led by General Daoud, the brother-in-law of King Mohammed Zahir Shah. No accurate times are available for the progress of the coup, but it seems that late in the night of July 16 troops from the garrison of Kharqua Sharaf, 30 miles from  Kabul, moved into the capital city, surrounding the radio station, government offices and the royal palace. Having secured control of Kabul, General Daoud proclaimed the republic, of which he was to be the President, during the morning of July 17. News of the proclamation was broadcast by Delhi radio in India at 6.35 am GMT, the proclamation itself therefore having been prior to this time. In the absence of exact time the time of midnight is taken. (Source: Book of World Horoscopes, by Nocholas Campion).

Another chart that is available as per the book, Horoscopes of Asia, Australia and the Pacific, by Marck Penfield gives as August 14, 1747, 12.01, at Kandhar, Afghanistan. The source of the above date is from Afghan embassy. In ancient times, this region was known as Bactria or Khorasan. It has been invaded by Aryans from India, Persians in the 6th Century BC and by the Greeks under Alexander the Great in 330 BC. By the 18th century, the region was divided between the Persians and the Moghuls from India. Tribes united under Nadir Shah in August 1747 and modern Afghanistan was born.

There is another chart for December 22, 2001 for 13.12, Kabul, Afghanistan. The source is https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Nation:_Afghanistan.

Based on the past three important following events, I decided to take 1973 chart as the chart that depicts Afghanistan.

The first event, In April 1978, the communist People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) seized power in a bloody coup d’état against then-President Mohammed Daoud Khan, in what is called the Saur Revolution (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event). The PDPA declared the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, with its first leader named as People’s Democratic Party general secretary Nur Muhammad Taraki. This would trigger a series of events that would dramatically turn Afghanistan from a poor and secluded (albeit peaceful) country to a hotbed of international terrorism. The PDPA initiated various social, symbolic and land distribution reforms that provoked strong opposition, while also brutally oppressing political dissidents. This caused unrest and quickly expanded into a state of civil war by 1979, waged by guerrilla mujahideen (and smaller Maoist guerillas) against regime forces countrywide. It quickly turned into a proxy war as the Pakistani government provided these rebels with covert training centers, the United States supported them through Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the Soviet Union sent thousands of military advisers to support the PDPA regime. Meanwhile, there was increasingly hostile friction between the competing factions of the PDPA – the dominant Khalq and the more moderate Parcham. In September 1979, PDPA General Secretary Taraki was assassinated in an internal coup orchestrated by fellow Khalq member, then-Prime minister Hafizullah Amin, who assumed the new general secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event). The situation in the country deteriorated under Amin and thousands of people went missing. Displeased with Amin’s government, the Soviet Army invaded the country in December 1979, heading for Kabul and killing Amin just three days later (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event). A Soviet-organized regime, led by Parcham’s Babrak Karmal but inclusive of both factions (Parcham and Khalq), filled the vacuum. Soviet troops in more substantial numbers were deployed to stabilize Afghanistan under Karmal, marking the beginning of the Soviet–Afghan War. The United States and Pakistan, along with smaller actors like Saudi Arabia and China, continued supporting the rebels, delivering billions of dollars in cash and weapons including two thousand FIM-92 Stinger surface-to-air missiles. Lasting nine years, the war caused the deaths of between 562,000 and 2 million Afghans, and displaced about 6 million people who subsequently fled Afghanistan, mainly to Pakistan and Iran. Heavy air bombardment destroyed many countryside villages, millions of landmines were planted, and some cities such as Herat and Kandahar were also damaged from bombardment. Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province functioned as an organisational and networking base for the anti-Soviet Afghan resistance, with the province’s influential Deobandi ulama playing a major supporting role in promoting the ‘jihad’. After the Soviet withdrawal, the civil war ensued until the communist regime under People’s Democratic Party leader Mohammad Najibullah collapsed in 1992 (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event). The chart for 1973 is given below, which will be used for future and analysis of past events.

The astrological connection with the above events.

April 1978 transits…. On April 1, 1978 the transit Rahu/Ketu were in Virgo/Pisces axis at 12.12 degrees in exact square to natal Rahu/Ketu in Sagittarius/Gemini axis at 13 degrees.

September 1979 transits…On September 1, 1979 the transit Rahu/Ketu were in Leo/Aquarius axis at 14.45 degrees and it was in exact trine to natal Rahu/Ketu in Sagittarius/Gemini axis at 13 degrees. Transit Rahu was also in exact trine to natal Asc degree of 15.15 degrees in Aries.

Transit Jupiter was in Leo at 15.38 degrees in exact trine to natal Asc degrees of Aries 15.15. Transit Mars was in Leo at 11.10 degrees in exact trine to natal Rahu in Sagittarius at 13.20 degrees.

The contemporary Afghan history that started between 28 April 1992, the day that a new interim Afghan government was supposed to replace the Republic of Afghanistan of President Mohammad Najibullah, and the Taliban’s conquest of Kabul establishing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on 27 September 1996 (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event). On 25 April 1992 (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event), a civil war had ignited between three, later five or six, mujahideen armies, when Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and supported by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) refused to form a coalition government with other mujahideen groups and tried to conquer Kabul for themselves. After four months, already half a million residents of Kabul had fled the heavily bombarded city. The Afghan history between the Taliban’s conquest of Kabul and their establishing of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on 27 September 1996, and the U.S. and U.K. invasion of Afghanistan on 7 October 2001 (refer astrological reasoning given below for this event): a period that was part of the Afghan civil war that had started in 1989, and also part of the war (in wider sense) in Afghanistan that had started in 1978. The Islamic State of Afghanistan government remained the recognized government of Afghanistan of most of the international community, the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan however received recognition from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

April 25, 1992 transits…..Transit Rahu/Ketu were in Sagittarius/Gemini axis at 9.53 degrees approaching natal Saturn in Gemini at 4.37 degrees.

September 27, 1996 transits….Transit Rahu/Ketu were in Virgo/Pisces axis at 14.19 degrees in exact square to natal Rahu/Ketu in Sagittarius/Gemini axis at 13.20 degrees. Transit Rahu in Virgo at 14.19 degrees was in exact trine to natal Jupiter and Moon in Capricorn at 15 degrees.

October 7, 2001 transits…..Transits Rahu/Ketu were in Gemini/Sagittarius axis at 7.01 degrees and was approaching natal Saturn in Gemini at 4.37 degrees. Transit Mars was in Sagittarius at 22.34 degrees aspecting natal Mars in Pisces at 22.40 degrees.

Based on the above chart of 1973, and on the basis of future transits, we can expect the following;

  • Transit Ketu is currently in Scorpio at 13 degrees. It will be trine to natal Mercury (Rx) at 6.12 degrees in Cancer. The affliction will be complete by mid January 2022. In the natal chart, Mercury is connected with Ketu.
  • Transit Ketu will afflict natal Sun in Cancer at 00.36 degrees. The affliction to Sun by Ketu will be complete by April, 2022. Sun signifies top leaders of the current establishment. So, there can be assassination of top leaders of Afghanistan before April 2022.
  • When transit Ketu in Scorpio comes to 4 degrees around January 23, 2022, it will begin afflicting the natal Saturn in Gemini at 4.37 degrees. This period of 1.5 years beginning from January 23, 2022 (i.e. by July 2023) will be end of current establishment of Afghan Government.
  • Transit Rahu currently in Taurus at 13 degrees has already begun afflicting the natal Asc degree of Aries 15.15 degrees. The affliction by Rahu will be complete by January 2023.
  • From January 2023 the transit Ketu will begin afflicting the natal Moon and Jupiter in Capricorn at 15.15 degrees in the 10th house. Moon is connected with Ketu in the natal chart. The affliction by transit Ketu to natal Moon and Jupiter will be complete by July 2024.
  • Based on the above, the period up to July 2024 will be very scary for Afghanistan.
